I like Men - and because of that, I also like the work of artists that are able to create works that show how the male form can be aesthetically pleasing. When you're on a browse, you encounter images of all kinds. I don't have to tell anyone out there that not everything is good. I also don't really have to mention that female images abound. They far exceed their male counterparts - even when you filter for "male" or "man", you'll still return a half dozen or so images of women. But I digress.
Lately, I've been noticing a fair number of young kids [under 18] complaining to individual artists, in the comments section, about the "fact" that they are "forced" to see penises when browsing: "Why do you take pictures of your penis? You should make sure that people under 18 can't see this" "Not cool, man. Not Cool" and the like... All leveled at images clearly marked: 'Mature Content'.
At this point, I have to call Bullshit.
The mind boggles at the number of extreme vaginal close-ups created by both men and women here at dA. That's not the issue, a large portion of these images are genius in their execution. I don't for a second believe that the genitals can't be shown for their inherent beauty. They can be just as beautiful as an eye, a foot, an ear or a shoulder blade but; people tend to throw mud at the penis.
The issue here is that these "righteous cubs" should, and most likely do, know how to turn the 'Mature Content Filter' on and off. When you visit deviantART as a non-member, the 'Mature Content Filter' is on by default. When you decide that you want to join the community and set up your account, the 'Mature Content Filter' is on by default. When you submit a deviation, one of the final things you must decide is if your deviation contains 'Mature Content'. [True some people ignore this when submitting a deviation but, I've encountered very, very few that weren't properly labeled in this respect.] It's hard to miss all the places that the 'Mature Content Filter' is an option. When you browse deviantART as a member for the first time, guess what?: the 'Mature Content Filter' is on by default.
You have to choose to see 'Mature Content'. It must be a conscious decision to disable this component.
That being said, I now say this: You can't say: "I just broke into the locked room marked: 'Caution - Nuclear Bio-Hazard: Only Authorized Personnel - Protective Garments Must Be Worn AT ALL TIMES' and now I have radiation poisoning, I demand to know what your going to do about it." You know what, Kids? Beware Of The Leopard.

Despite the periodic high temperatures ...
There is a certain Zen to Summer.....
Hmmmmm ...
I wonder if the world will ever be free of it's knee-jerk reaction to the male body.
Purgatory.
One of the things that I originally wanted to do here was post some, if not all, of my original darkroom work of all kinds. Well, my eight year old combination scanner doesn't exactly work with Windows 8 [it sorta works] or my four year old Mac mini [absolutely not at all - it used to work with my gumdrop iMac] , so I'm kind of at a standstill when it comes to resurrecting Old Negatives for the New Century.
On the other side of this is the fact that while my "new" [previously owned] Sigma SD-15 is capable of producing highly detailed JPEG images from its RAW files, the pool of willing models seems to have dried up to only those who fee
Vengence
When you leave someplace, for whatever reason; be it from restlessness, righteous indignation, weariness, or some sense of entitlement, try to think through whatever reasons you might have for any vengeful act you might perpetrate on your way out - Try to make sure that any "calling cards" you might leave behind will reach the right recipient, that any "parting shots" that you might fire will hit the true target of your wrath and not the innocents whose only crime was to be in the way of your blind and terrible swift sword.
