One of the things that I originally wanted to do here was post some, if not all, of my original darkroom work of all kinds. Well, my eight year old combination scanner doesn't exactly work with Windows 8 [it sorta works] or my four year old Mac mini [absolutely not at all - it used to work with my gumdrop iMac] , so I'm kind of at a standstill when it comes to resurrecting Old Negatives for the New Century.
On the other side of this is the fact that while my "new" [previously owned] Sigma SD-15 is capable of producing highly detailed JPEG images from its RAW files, the pool of willing models seems to have dried up to only those who feel that they should be paid top model prices [which, by the way, are very high from my point of view - top model wages average out to about $9000 an hour]. I have said on numerous occasions the at I am not independently wealthy [I could barely fit upgrading my used camera into my budget] , my bank account drops to zero or below every month, and with the push to level the minimum wage to $15/hr that means nearly everybody will make more money than I do now and employers will cut their staff in order to comply.
In any event, the only new photos that I have taken are of flowers, various items around my home, and items for sale at my place of employment [this latter is how I'm barely keeping a roof over my head]. It can challenging and somewhat satisfying, but those moments are very few and far between because of all the other things that I must do before I can even touch my camera [and even then] I can perform the task, but my heart's just not in it.
The point of this rant [?] is that until I can get together with subjects that can and are willing to help me create some new works, can afford to replace a scanner for my old negatives, I won't be posting much more than flowers and chairs for a while.
One positive: the price of my internet connection has remained at the same level it was when I got it while everything else around it has skyrocketed.

When you leave someplace, for whatever reason; be it from restlessness, righteous indignation, weariness, or some sense of entitlement, try to think through whatever reasons you might have for any vengeful act you might perpetrate on your way out - Try to make sure that any "calling cards" you might leave behind will reach the right recipient, that any "parting shots" that you might fire will hit the true target of your wrath and not the innocents whose only crime was to be in the way of your blind and terrible swift sword.

Seems like everything that we do has to be "logged" in one way or another. As much as I love my friends and the people I met along the way - It now seems that the "way" increasingly requires me to choose between more social obligations than is actually psychically possible; for me. I have a hard enough time keeping track of my own birthday ... the things that I would love to do can be overridden by the things that I must do in order to keep myself in clean socks and sleeping indoors. This is a serious broadband apology to my friends and others for missing many events of late; Honestly, I've never been one to respond to every slight variation in the social continuum and I can't really keep up. Thirteen years ago [ ! ] I wrote about the "New Millennium" and how it was all going to get faster from here [ 2000 ] on out. I'm all for quicker information, in fact, I want my info to come to me faster, I want my computer to calculate faster so that my GUI's are smoother, I want my camera to handle bigger files [ I just don't want it to do it in a phone ] but, I'm not exactly sure that I need to run around texting my friends that I just arrived at Stavros' Bar or QFC or I'm on my way my second of three jobs while downing a cup of burnt coffee because I'm out of energy drinks - I'm pretty sure I can have fast info without me being plugged into it every hour of every day of every month.
